Pattern Play: Mixing It Up

Today we are talking about all things PATTERNS!  It is so fun to design a space and add dimension and layers using a mix of patterns.  The best part is that you don’t have to just stick with one color, pattern, design, etc…..Mix It Up!  Florals, stripes, chevron, gingham, herringbone, houndstooth, ikat, polka dot or toile are just a few that pop in to my head.  What is your favorite “go to” pattern for your home…..or in your personal wardrobe?  anthro-chair

This Liberty for Anthropologie Feather Bloom Amores Swivel Chair is amazing!  The barrel silhouette and pattern make this chair very glamorous!

This wallpaper by NY based artist and illustrator Wayne Pate is to die for!  He collaborated with Studio Four NYC to create playful yet sophisticated patterns for wallpaper and fabric.  I love the whimsical feeling of his designs.

Rugs…..love the patterns you can find in rugs.  The patterns can be subdued or bold.  They can add color to the room and be the focal point or blend in discreetly while adding texture.  These gorgeous rugs from Matt Camron Rugs & Tapestries are full of pattern!

These shoes by Rachel Comey are insane!  The open toe mule with multi stripe embroidery is edgy and interesting.  Patterns in shoe design can be playful and unique!
