On Wednesday night we took a 12 hour bus ride from Delhi to Dharamsala. Thank goodness it was through the night, I don’t even want to know what kind of roads we were driving on. It was so bumpy and rickety..it’s amazing we made it! It’s so beautiful up here, very cool..like Colorado weather in September, cedar trees everywhere! We ran into some travelers from California in Delhi and they convinced us to come, saying it was like Tahoe! That was all Tim needed to hear, and we were on the first bus to the mountains! For those of you who don’t know, Dharamsala is the home of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama and an entire community of Tibetan exiles. I don’t have too much time to write about the atrocities of the Chinese government and what they are doing to Tibet, but if you’re interested..you can read about it here: Free Tibet.
Last night at dinner, we heard very traditional Tibetan music. It was so beautiful. She told us they enjoy taking every opportunity they can to play for people in order to preserve their culture and heritage.
No, there is no zoo up in Dharamsala. Tim told me to stop monkeying around when I stopped to take their picture..hahaha, we love those dumb jokes…tomorrow’s agenda, Dalai Lama’s residence and temple, then shopping for traditional Tibetan crafts..and listening to a talk from this guy.
