Qutub Minar

Tim and I are lucky lucky lucky…spoiled rotten! The past three days we’ve been hijacked by not only one, but two sets of family friends in New Delhi. Suresh & Meera, and Jagdish & Asha have invited us into their homes, taken us around Delhi, shown us the sites and filled our bellies with the best Indian cuisine! We have had such fun seeing India through a locals eye! They laughed so hard when they heard we were staying in that Tibetan Colony, and immediately rescued us out of that area! Asha told me as long as we were in Delhi we were at ‘home’ with her.

These two shots are of our colony we left behind!

I finally got my pomegranate! It’s as big as my head! I’ve only eaten like 1/8th of it! We learned the huge ones come from Kabul, Afghanistan!

We first went to Qutub Minar, a five-storey tower built in 1193 AD. It was built to mark the first Muslim Dynasty in India. The carvings and attention to details were amazing, and I can’t even fathom that time period being from such a young country like the US (and New Zealand). This is one of Jagdish and Asha’s favorite places to visit in Delhi!

Qutub Minar is a World Heritage Monument. I loved every minute of being there!

I have more to tell… we’re in Dharamsala right now…going to have Japanese for dinner! Imagine, Japanese up here in the middle of nowhere!
