Agra Fort & Baby Taj
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008
We went to the Agra Fort the day after we saw the Taj. It is the most important fort for India, and is hundreds of years old. All of the structures are built of sandstone which is this beautiful red color.
We really enjoyed walking around the grounds and seeing all the buildings. Again, it’s a little hazy!
The Itmad-Ud-Daulah, was actually built before the Taj and is said to be the inspiration behind the Taj. It’s otherwise known as the, Baby Taj. I was so surprised to see so many monuments built by Muslims in India. I never knew that so many people in the 14th adn 15th centuries had come from Persia to India to rule and live.
