Its official, the holidays are here and this year I am going to be prepared…ummm, well I am going to try. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays – its all about good food, spending time with loved ones and taking a step back and reflecting on everything that we are thankful for (which is much-needed considering the divisiveness of our current politics, but that’s a topic for another time and my advice is to steer clear of discussing politics at the Thanksgiving table). In the spirit of keeping the holidays as stress-free as possible, I have created a 3 step plan that will get you through the all of the holiday festivities with ease.
Step 1: Decide on the vibe of your party – The tone of the party should be appropriate for the guest you have invited. I have put together a few Thanksgiving tablescape’s that will set the tone no matter what the vibe. Scroll down to shop the looks.
Step 2: Plan your menu, make what you can in advance and its OK to ask people to bring something. My next blog will have the recipes for some of my favorite dishes and some time-saving tricks.
Step 3: Clean as you go. No one likes this part but it doesn’t have to be that bad. If your guests offer to help, except it! Assign children the job of collecting napkins and flatware. I love going for a walk after a big meal, suggest your guest go for a stroll after dinner, its easier to pick up with fewer people around and this will make setting up for dessert a breeze.
